4 Days Kibale Chimpanzee Trekking & Habituation

4 Days Kibale Chimpanzee Trekking & Habituation is slightly longer and will take you 4 days to complete this amazing safari. On this amazing safari, you will be engaged in not only chimpanzee tracking, but it will also be so fascinating for one to spend time with the gentle habituated primates.

Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Kibale forest

Depending on your location in Kampala, you will start the 4 Days Kibale Chimpanzee Trekking & Habituation safari by meeting your guide/driver for a transfer to Kibale national park.

This is a 5-hour drive, and you will have your lunch enroute to this park. You will arrive in Fort Portal early afternoon and proceed to your lodge for relaxation.

Dinner and an overnight stay at Isunga Lodge for budget or Chimpanzee Guest House for mid-range and Kyaninga Lodge for luxury accommodation.

Day 2: Chimpanzee habituation experience

You will process on day 2 with your 4-day Kibale Chimpanzee Trekking & Habituation safari by having breakfast very early. Later you will transfer to the Kanyanchu information center for a briefing about the chimpanzees.

Thereafter, you will enter the forest to start the search of the non-habituated chimpanzees with your packed lunch, water, and snacks. These are chimpanzees that are not yet familiar with humans; with the guidance of the park rangers, experience the process of how chimpanzees become habituated.

This is a full-day activity, so nothing else should be planned on this day.

After the experience, return to your lodge for relaxation, inner peace, and an overnight stay at the lodge as above.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking and afternoon nature walk

Day 3 will start by you having breakfast very early and later transferring to the park head office for a briefing about the endangered chimpanzees and later entering the forest with the guidance of a park ranger along with your tracking gear, packed water, and snacks. This tracking takes about 2-5 hours in search of the chimpanzees.

On finding the primates, you will spend 1 hour viewing them while studying their behavior and taking pictures. After tracking, return to the lodge for lunch and refresh.

In the afternoon after lunch, connect for a nature walk in Bigodi wetland Sanctuary, where you will get to enjoy walking through a wetland with a variety of bird species. Later in the evening return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight at as above

Day 4: Transfer to Entebbe and departure

Have an early morning breakfast and drive to the Amabere Ga Nya mwiru caves, where you will explore the caves that have a fascinating history.

You will also explore the waterfalls and the Crater Lake tours in Fort Portal. Have lunch and embark on a 5-6 hour drive back to Kampala, and connect to Entebbe International Airport to find your evening flight back home.
