Absolutely not, totally unacceptable. This is one of the rules you have to follow while on a the chimpanzee trek, do not touch the chimps, don’t feed the chimps, don’t sneeze or cough into the chimps etc. These rules and guidelines will always be shared with you by your tour operator and trekking guide.

  1. What if I can’t continue on, and we haven’t found the chimps?

Well, in that case, one of the trekking guides will walk with you out of the forest as the rest of the group continues on with the experience.

  1. What if a chimpanzee attacks me?

Chimpanzees rarely attack people; they are very social animals just playful at most, but they won’t come from no where and attack you. The other thing is that all the chimps you trek are habituated, so they are usually people aware. That said if you do anything that causes the chimpanzee to look like attacking you, just stay still and don’t look them in the eye, they will retreat and go; also, always follow the instructions of your trekking guide.
